In 13 years, I have never used this page to make a political statement of any kind. That ends now. Yesterday was an extremely dark day for our country. Charlie Kirk was unapologetically honest, which was his greatest crime. He encouraged conversation with anyone who would listen, and challenged students and young folks around the country to, at the very least, believe in something.

Even in the worst places on the planet, the punishment for disagreement is not murder.

What’s equally disheartening is seeing people either support or celebrate the silencing of an American voice. I’m disgusted to say I’m seeing it in my own community. This man was a father, husband, and whether you like it or not, a truth teller. He committed no crimes. He hated no one. He opened his platform to anyone, of any belief, and engaged in honest thoughtful debate.

There is no formula by which anyone should be celebrating the cold blooded killing of a fellow American, now or ever. It does not matter who you voted for. If you can’t agree with this, rest assured, you are part of the problem. And please, kindly, respectfully, see yourself to the door, I would prefer not to have your support, money, likes or follows. If we can’t agree on the basic principle of valuing the life of a fellow American, it is unlikely that we will agree on anything.
