Our daughter is a Texas State 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassador and a member of the Texas 4-H National Shooting Sports Team. As part of her ambassadorship, she is charged with spreading awareness of the 4-H Shooting Sports Program. Whether you have heard of this fantastic program or not, read on to find out more about it in her article! ⬇️
“Give 4-H Shooting Sports a Shot!”
The 4-H Shooting Sports Program is an immersive hands-on program for youth ages eight years through eighteen years, designed to teach them marksmanship, safety, and the responsibility to safely handle and operate fi****ms and other equipment. This program forces youth to step out of their comfort zones, meet new people, and push themselves to achieve great things. Competitions and team practices teach youth how to work together, along with the importance of range safety and good sportsmanship.
There are six different disciplines for youth to participate and/or compete in; archery, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloading, pistol, and hunting and wildlife skills. While youth learn equipment handling and shooting techniques, be assured that it’s all under the supervision of certified coaches.
The Shooting Sports Program is an amazing way to meet new people, compete, and practice alongside strangers who could become life long friends. You learn how to be patient with yourself and others, you are taught self-discipline and decision making skills. It will help competitors hone their project skills and aim to be the best.
