Just have to share this from another seamstress. It spoke to my heart because it said everything I feel.
“Thank you for trusting me with your wedding gown.” 🫶🫰😄
It’s complicated and scary 🤣❤️
And I pray, every time, “she” goes back together again the way I found her. (I call all wedding gowns “she” 😆)

I take them apart — literally. And put them back together again, but hemmed and fitted, down to the finest detail. No two ever the same.
The aspect of the wedding that nobody knew even happened. Like an invisible, magical fairy godmother lol. 🧚
They’re put back together so pristinely, that you’d never ever know that at one point it was nearly taken completely apart. I take this risk daily. I smile and pretend there was never a “risk,” but boy oh boy is there every time. I alter 15-24 wedding gowns every month and they never get “less scary” 😄
Alterations are being able to think inside out, backwards, and reversed at all times. While juggling your anxiety, their anxiety, and their grandma who’s now asked three times, “Are you sure you know what you’re doing? You look too young.”
It’s risky, it’s scary. It comes with huge consequences and even bigger reward. I love the challenge of it, but I do feel the pressure of it. I love seeing brides gleam when their dream dress emerges, but I’m always worried I’ll let someone down. And have. I never get bored because every gown is a new puzzle that I get to figure out how to master — secretly, like a fairy godmother. But sometimes I do ask myself how I even got into this mess.
I mean, how many times have you been asked to cut up and stab thousands-of-dollars worth of other people’s merchandise? Their prized possession. Nobody in their right mind would ever agree to that. But I do. 😭🤣
I threaten to quit most every day, but always reach for the next gown with a grin.

But also really freakin’ scary, okay. 🤣

Someone asked the other day if I’d gone out of business because I hadn’t been making sewing posts all summer. I’m still here every day and busier than ever. The more I post, the more people find me — I’ve been hiding out because I don’t really “need” more people to find me. 😆 and the less I post, the less opportunity for my weird side to show — like this. 🫶❤️
