I had a client who did calligraphy many years ago for a high school project ~ 90 pages of hand written text. The pages were bound into a book, which has not stood the test of time the last 50 years.

She wanted to make a new case for her book. Jan came to the bindery for a private session to put her book back together. She chose a book cloth that she liked from my collection, and which matched the paint in her den at home. Here are some photos of the process and the end result.

This Journal Making Workshop was a birthday surprise. Everyone each left with 3 handmade books, including a 5-signature journal using handmade papers for a unique cover with pockets. All instruction and materials are included. Open to all ages and experiences.

This is my latest cookbook restoration to be finished at Still Water Bindery. Cookbooks get a lot of wear and tear in the kitchen. Save your special recipes by keeping your family’s cookbooks repaired.

I made a new case covered in red buckram, but kept the original title from the old cover. Repaired and replaced some of the section tabs. And added a pocket inside the back cover for recipe cards and notes per the owner’s request.
