🇵🇷✊🏿✊🏽On February 3, 1964, Black and Puerto Rican New Yorkers came together for Freedom Day, a massive school boycott protesting segregation and unequal conditions in New York City’s public schools.

Nearly half a million people participated, making it the largest civil-rights protest of the 1960s, according to the Smithsonian. The movement brought African American and Puerto Rican communities together in a shared fight for better and more equal education.

A powerful chapter of Black and Puerto Rican solidarity that deserves to be remembered.

Later on, I will address the issue of OTHER Prophets, being able to come AFTER Mohammed (SAW), or not, why Orthodox Muslims see this as heretical, & why there are those of us who have a different understanding of the issue.

Boom! You get the question, “IF BLACK AND ASIAN PEOPLE WERE SO GREAT, WHY WERE THEY COLONIZED?”

Well, by that logic, Europe must have been “inferior” every time Europeans conquered other Europeans.

See how quickly the argument falls apart?

Rome conquered much of Europe.

The Normans conquered England.

Napoleon occupied enormous parts of Europe.

N**i Germany conquered or occupied much of the continent before being defeated.

Nobody serious concludes that French, Polish, Dutch, Greek, or other European peoples were therefore biologically inferior.

So why is that logic suddenly applied to Africans and Asians?

Because white supremacy did something clever with history:

It turned temporary POWER into permanent IDENTITY.

Colonial conquest was never a global IQ test.

European imperial expansion was aided by maritime technology, fi****ms, industrial production, financial systems, political rivalries, local alliances, and devastating differences in military capacity at particular moments in history.

And the people Europeans encountered were not sitting around waiting for civilization.

India had produced major civilizations, mathematics, literature, architecture, philosophy, and vast commercial networks.

China developed paper, printing, gunpowder, the compass, enormous cities, sophisticated government institutions, and centuries of scientific innovation.

Across Africa stood civilizations and states such as Mali, Songhai, Kongo, Benin, Ethiopia, Great Zimbabwe, and many others, connected to regional and international networks of trade and scholarship.

Then there is the historical detail supremacist storytelling struggles to explain:

Europe itself was conquered repeatedly.

Because conquest does not prove racial superiority.

It proves that one political or military power possessed enough advantages to defeat another at a particular time.

And power changes hands.

Egypt rose.

Rome rose.

Mali rose.

The Mongols rose.

The Ottomans rose.

European maritime empires rose.

Every empire eventually discovered the same uncomfortable truth:

DOMINANCE IS NOT DNA.

Perhaps the deepest insecurity is needing somebody else’s ancestors to be inferior so you can feel superior about your own.

You do not honor European history by turning Europeans into fictional superhumans.

You honor history by studying human beings as they actually were: brilliant, flawed, creative, violent, innovative, cooperative, competitive, victorious, and defeated.

History has never been a racial scoreboard.

It is the complicated story of humanity.

And humanity has never belonged to one color.

10 Countries You Didn’t Know Had Historic Black Communities

Plot twist: Africa’s diaspora did not only travel west. 🌍

Long before modern passports existed, Africans were crossing deserts, sailing oceans, building communities, trading, serving in armies, and sometimes being forcibly displaced thousands of miles from home.

Mexico 🇲🇽
Africans arrived in colonial New Spain through the Atlantic slave trade. Their descendants became part of Mexico’s story, including maroon leader Gaspar Yanga and communities that survive today.

Argentina 🇦🇷
Buenos Aires once had a significant African-descended population. War, migration, intermarriage, disease, demographic change, and changing racial classifications transformed how that population appeared in later records.

India 🇮🇳 & Pakistan 🇵🇰
The Siddi and Sheedi communities trace important parts of their ancestry to Africans who crossed the Indian Ocean over centuries as sailors, merchants, soldiers, servants, and enslaved people.

Iraq 🇮🇶 & Iran 🇮🇷
African-descended communities have deep histories around the Persian Gulf, shaped by Indian Ocean trade, maritime labor, migration, and slavery.

Turkey 🇹🇷
Afro-Turks descend largely from Africans brought into the Ottoman Empire, alongside other forms of African movement through Ottoman territories.

China 🇨🇳
African contact with China reaches back centuries through Indian Ocean trade. Historical African presence existed long before today’s African student and immigrant communities, although its scale and character differed greatly from the Atlantic diaspora.

Indonesia 🇮🇩
African history even reached the Indonesian archipelago. Under Dutch colonial rule, African soldiers from the Gold Coast were transported to the Dutch East Indies, where some settled and formed families.

Peru 🇵🇪
Africans were brought to colonial Peru through slavery and became deeply woven into Peruvian history, agriculture, food, music, religion, and culture.

Here is what history teaches us:

The African diaspora was NEVER one journey.

Some Africans traveled as merchants.

Some as sailors and soldiers.

Some migrated freely.

Millions were forcibly displaced through systems of slavery.

And their descendants built new communities across the world.

Africa’s history did not end at Africa’s shores.

It sailed the Atlantic.

It crossed the Indian Ocean.

And its footprints remain wherever its people went.
