Hi folks. It looks like I won’t be able to open the shop today because Middle Ridge Road is closed between Cemetery Road and Apple House & Gill Roads. There are wires still on the road since the storm last night and I have no idea when things will open up.

Welcome to Abiding Acres Farm where we dream big, persevere daily, and trust the Lord above all.

The origin of this little shop began with a desire to provide opportunities for my adult son with autism once he aged out of the school system. He helps to make various items in the shop, including soaps, soy candles, beaded items, and our newest venture, wax melts. In fact, we have four boxes of wax melts to give away today! This is a new wax and a new fragrance for us so we are giving away four boxes of melts with the hope of receiving feedback about them.

In our shop you will discover so many little treasures in a calm, relaxing environment. It’s a tiny shop but we have much to offer, including watercolor supplies, classic literature, Christian books, and many nature themed books as well. We love to support small USA family owned businesses and global fair trade companies so we offer a variety of unique items from across the country and the world.

Today is a great day to stop by and visit us at 1861 Middle Ridge Road, Newport. Hours are 10-4 Fridays and Saturdays.

Come check out our current inventory of Wind River Corinthian Bell wind chimes and new products we just stocked this week. We have a fresh supply of Emily Alex Studio watercolor workbooks and some lovely little embroidery kits that use a wooden disc as the canvas!

We have a selection of our own soy candles that are discounted and a small amount of Ty’s soaps as well. We have a large selection of his beaded garden stakes too.

When you visit and shop at Abiding Acres Farm, you are not only supporting artisans around the world and numerous American-owned small businesses, you are supporting a local Mom and her adult son with autism.

I grew up here in Newport, just a few miles away on the other side of Wila. My family and I have lived here on Middle Ridge for almost 19 years, the majority of my son’s life. This is our home and this shop is my dream … for my son, Tyler, and our future.

Ty makes some of our products and helps me with others. He also helps to price items and stock the shelves. He dust shelves and vacuums the carpet to help prepare for visitors to the shop.

All aspects of our small business are intentional and purposeful for Ty’s growth and with a vision towards providing for the future.

New to the shop are watercolor books by Emily Lex Studio and a supply of watercolor paints, paintbrushes, and mini palettes.

We also have coloring postcards and colored pencils too.
