Yesterday, I closed the doors of the boutique for the last time as its owner, but I’m not sure I’m ready to call it an ending and maybe that’s because Daughters has never really been just one thing?

This all started in 2019 in my basement, with a website and a little dream. Then it became a small space inside my mother-in-law’s shop and in 2021, I finally opened the brick-and-mortar I had dreamed about in the little downtown storefront by the theater that I had noticed so many times before.

We worked so hard to get it all together and I remember finally taking the paper off those windows and thinking, “This is literally happening.” It was so exciting, but it was also entirely terrifying, because I knew that I wasn’t just opening a store. I was letting people into my head and my heart. I was taking something I had dreamed of and putting it out there for everyone to see.

And then it grew.

A year later, we moved into the beautiful space we’re in now, nearly tripling the size of the boutique… That little basement dream had become something I never could have imagined.

And now, this version of it is changing.

I’m sad. I’m proud. I’m grateful. I’m relieved. And, it’s taken me a roller coaster but I’m also realizing that sometimes the bravest thing isn’t just starting. It’s also knowing when to pause, knowing when to let go, and trusting that it doesn’t mean the dream is over.

I’m not saying goodbye forever. I’m saying goodbye to THIS version of Daughters.

For now, someone else’s dream gets to fill these walls and that’s what makes my heart the happiest. Someone else sees the potential. They understand the space we’ve worked so hard to create, and they understand the why behind it all.

So no, Daughters is not done. It’s just passing the baton 🤍

Thank you for letting me dream. Thank you for letting me try. Thank you for giving me a place to put a piece of my heart. And thank you to every single person who walked through those doors and became part of this chapter.

I’ll always be so proud of the girl who started this dream in her basement in 2019.
She was terrified.
She did it anyway.
And look how far she got.

The secret is finally out!

We are so excited to officially welcome Kate & Kin Boutique to the retail space at Daughters!

We’ve spent the last several weeks clearing, moving, planning, and preparing behind the scenes, and finding the right person to step into this space was really important to us.

We wanted someone who would see the potential in it, bring their own ideas and personality, and make it something they could truly call their own… We’ve found exactly that in Katy.

She’s a wife, a mom of three, and now a small business owner taking a GIANT leap of faith with her family along for the ride.

Her vision for Kate & Kin is to offer cute, affordable and stylish clothing for women and girls, along with men’s clothing and accessories for the whole family, and we couldn’t be more excited to watch her bring that vision to life.

Over the coming weeks, you’ll begin seeing the space change as Katy puts her own stamp on it. We hope you’ll welcome her, support her, and follow along as she builds something of her own.

And for our salon and tanning family — nothing is changing there. Your stylists, appointments and tanning services remain exactly as they are.

For us, this feels less like an ending and more like getting to watch a brand new small-business dream take root in a space that has meant so much to us over the years.

We’re so incredibly proud of what Daughters has been, so grateful for everyone who has been part of the journey, and genuinely excited to see what comes next!

I’m Katy — a wife, a mom of three, and now a small business owner taking a leap of faith into something completely new and bringing my family along for the ride! ✨❤️

My vision for this boutique is simple: to bring you cute, affordable, and stylish clothing for women and girls, while also offering men’s wear and fun accessories for the whole family. I want everyone to be able to find something they love without having to break the bank. 🛍️✨

This is more than just starting a boutique for me. It’s about creating something of our own, making memories with my family, stepping outside of my comfort zone, and building something we can all be proud of.
