Happy Independence Day, India. 🇮🇳

With gratitude for the country that gave generations of Tibetans refuge, a home, and the freedom to preserve our culture and faith. May the spirit of independence continue to remind us of the value and meaning of independence by continuing to stand for freedom, dignity, compassion, and peace—for all people.
With gratitude and Love,

Standing with my daughters in the place where I was born, receiving His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s blessing, I found myself thinking less about the moment and more about what we pass on to our children. Not possessions or achievements, but compassion. Kindness. The courage to embrace peace and nonviolence, especially in a world that desperately needs it. Regardless of our culture, faith, or background, perhaps this is something we all share: the hope that our children will carry forward a little more love than we could give them. This is one of those moments I will quietly hold in my heart. 🙏

I am sharing a glimpse from our journey through my hometown, the Tibetan colony in India, with humility and gratitude.

These photographs are not meant to tell the whole story of a place or its people. They are moments that touched us: beauty, tradition, everyday life, kindness, joy, and hardship.

I do not pretend to have all the answers or to fully understand everything we encounter. I am learning too, alongside my daughters.

Most of all, I wanted my daughters to experience this, to see beyond what is familiar, to stay curious, to feel gratitude, and to recognize our shared humanity, regardless of where we come from. Travel, for me, is about more than just visiting beautiful places. It’s about remembering how diverse and abundant this world is, and how joy and suffering often exist side by side.
Moments from our journey, shared with love and respect. ❤️

Just arrived safely in India! Their uncle has been waiting for this moment for nearly 17 years. We’re all emotional and exhausted after about 24 hours of traveling. Next, we head to our Tibetan settlement, where I grew up! We catch an early morning train at 5am, and we get to Nap for a few hours! I don’t sleep much anyway when I get home!

Girls' first trip to India! Long overdue, and I'm grateful to share our Tibetan culture and introduce their mother of the family. My brother Ghudak has been waiting for this for a long time!

A friend told me she participates in the Weekly Saturday RESIST Standout every Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Beacon Street and Center Street in Newton Center. I told her I would try to join her. Today, I closed the shop for an hour to support the local community’s effort. I’m glad I did!

Today I spent some time repotting and caring for the flowers outside Karma. It may seem like a small thing, but it reminded me what a privilege it is to have water, soil, plants, and the chance to help something grow.

With so much uncertainty and suffering in the world, I don’t take these simple moments for granted. Caring for this little corner of our community feels like one small way to offer beauty, gratitude, and hope. Wishing everyone a peaceful day.
