🧶 First KAL meetup: Success!

We came. We swatched. We knitted. We frogged a little. We laughed a lot.

From choosing colors to comparing swatches, yesterday was a wonderful reminder that knitting is about more than the finished project—it’s about the people you share it with.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We can’t wait to see how your Krysten Jackets grow between now and next week’s meetup!

Sometimes knitting isn’t about the knitting.

A customer came into the shop yesterday feeling frustrated after picking up a project she had set aside for quite some time. We’ve all been there—that moment when the stitches seem to make perfect sense to everyone except us.

So we did what knitters do.

We talked. We laughed a little. We untangled a few worries. And she left her project with me so I could help her find her place again.

This morning, my “assistants” pictured here were hard at work supervising the process from their cozy knitting nests. 🐾

One of the things I love most about this community is that nobody has to figure it all out alone. Sometimes you need help finding a stitch marker. Sometimes you need help finding your place. And sometimes you just need someone to remind you that every knitter, yes, every knitter, gets lost now and then.

That’s what your local yarn shop is for.

Come for the yarn. Stay for the friendship, encouragement, and occasional canine quality-control team. 🧶🐶

🐾 Knitter Problem #847: Walking two Yorkies is surprisingly similar to knitting stranded colorwork.

You start out with two separate strands, everything is flowing nicely, and you think, “I’ve got this.”

Then come the crossings, the squats, the leg lifts, the sudden stops to sniff something apparently fascinating, and before you know it…

…your leashes look like you’ve carried the floats across three pattern repeats twisting your yarn instead of stranding it. 🧶🐶

The good news? Nobody has dropped a stitch.

The bad news? Untangling the dogs may take longer than untangling a colorwork project.

Anyone else feel like dog walking is just advanced fiber arts? 😂

Twisted Stitches Live
Fiber Face-Off: Wool vs. Cotton
Same Pattern. Different Personality.

What happens when you knit the same sweater pattern in two completely different fibers?

This week on Twisted Stitches, we’re putting wool and cotton head-to-head in our first Fiber Face-Off!

Using two finished MahJong Sweaters as examples, we’ll explore how fiber choice affects:
🧶 Drape
🧶 Stitch definition
🧶 Warmth
🧶 Weight
🧶 Structure
🧶 Wearability

One version is knit in Noro Sonata, a cotton blend perfect for warmer weather. The other is knit in Moonshine Fine, a wool blend with beautiful loft and warmth.

You’ll see firsthand how fiber influences the look, feel, and function of your finished project, and why choosing the right yarn is about much more than color.

Whether you’re planning your next sweater or simply curious about how fibers behave, this episode will help you knit with greater confidence and intention.

Join us live and discover why the yarn you choose becomes the personality of the project.

Nora’s Okapi Wrap, knit in Harris by Juniper Moon Farm, is one of those projects that makes you want to pick up your needles and begin knitting. The dramatic color block pattern, rich earthy tones, and luxurious drape come together in a piece that’s equally at home with jeans or dressed up for an evening out.

We love seeing a project come full circle—from choosing yarn to that first proud wear. Nora, you absolutely nailed it!
