Micah got 1.8K views making fire the hard way.

Apparently, I took that as a challenge. 😂🔥 Can you help me get more!?

No matches. No lighter. This time we’re starting with an axe, a ferro rod, and a piece of wood.

Split the fuel.
Expose the dry wood.
Make the shavings.
Build the tinder.
Strike the spark.
Make fire.

Firecraft isn’t just knowing how to throw a spark onto something flammable. It’s understanding how to create the conditions fire needs with the materials you have.

And sometimes that means turning one chunk of wood into everything you need to get a fire going.

🔥 Woman vs. Fire.

Apparently Six Point Survival now offers emergency residential wildlife response. 😂🦎

Got a slightly frantic phone call from my neighbor today—which was already unusual because we don’t talk on the phone very often.

I answer and immediately hear:

“Oh my gosh, I need your help. I have a GIANT LIZARD in my house and I need you to come get it!”

Naturally, we responded.

I deployed Paisley as our primary Steve Irwin, and the two of us headed over to assess the situation.

We arrived to find:

🚪 Front door wide open
🧹 Neighbor armed with a broom
👀 “IT WENT THAT WAY.”
🦎 One blue-tailed skink somewhere inside, apparently wreaking absolute psychological havoc.

A search-and-rescue operation was initiated.

The final outcome of Operation Giant Lizard remains classified. 😂

But I can confirm that Six Point Survival responded when called, Paisley took her wildlife-management responsibilities very seriously, and the neighborhood is once again secure.

So now I need to know…

What is the funniest or most random call YOUR business has ever gotten? 😂

Because “Can you come get this giant lizard out of my house?” is currently winning ours.

Teaching 13 kids ages 7–12 how to read a map is basically equal parts navigation training, crowd control, and answering questions you never imagined anyone would ask. 😂🧭

But underneath the chaos, they’re learning something pretty awesome:

How to put the phone down, read the terrain, use a compass, understand a map, and figure out where they are and where they need to go.

These are real skills. They build confidence, independence, problem-solving, and the ability to stay calm when the easy answer isn’t sitting in their pocket.

And somehow… they’re having a ridiculous amount of fun doing it.

Six Point Survival Skills 101 gives kids hands-on training in navigation, fire, shelter, water, first aid, knots, improvisation, and more—all taught in a way that gets them outside and actually doing the skills.

🌲 Real skills. Real outdoors. No screens required.

Classes are enrolling now. If your kid would rather learn how to find their way through the woods than spend another afternoon staring at a screen, we should probably talk.

What do survival instructors do on their day off?

Apparently… more survival. 😂

Spent the day in the woods sharpening skills, testing techniques, and putting in reps on shelter building and friction fire.

🔥 Friction fire
🌲 Shelter systems
🪵 Natural materials
💪 Real-world field practice

Knowing a skill and staying proficient at it are two different things.

These are skills we teach regularly at Six Point Survival— but proficiency is perishable. Conditions change. Materials change. Weather changes. And there is always something to refine.

So we train.

Not because we’re learning the basics, but because the people we teach deserve instructors who stay sharp.

Practice. Refine. Repeat.

Train the skills before you need the skills.

What do you do for fun on Saturdays? 😂

Apparently, we make fire the hard way.

No matches. No lighter. No ferro rod. Just wood, cordage, friction, technique, and a healthy amount of stubbornness.

🔥 Primitive friction fire practice.

There’s a big difference between knowing how friction fire works and actually being able to produce an ember when you need one. Wood selection, moisture content, spindle and hearth combinations, tinder preparation, pressure, speed, and technique all matter.

And the only way to figure out what works is to practice.

Today’s agenda: make smoke, make mistakes, learn something, and eventually make fire.

Because at Six Point Survival, we don’t just teach survival skills. We practice them.

What’s everyone else doing with their Saturday? 😂
