This bed frame has never had a headboard for over 10 years and it was about time it get one. I have always wanted to make one but just haven’t and after my daughter hit her head on the wall for what felt like the millionth time, it was time! I didn’t want to spend any money on this project, cuz you know - economy. We have a barn full of random scrap wood so I used whatever was the right size and thankfully I was able to find enough. I built the frame during one nap time, then sanded and painting it during another naptime, then added padding (what sewist doesn’t have random pieces of batting and fleece fabric laying around). I had just enough leftover fabric from some curtains I made years ago, had to piece a little of it together to make it work but you can barely tell (kinda). I didn’t want the headboard moving cuz you know - kids, so I zip tied it to the legs of the bed frame and it is super sturdy! I’m very happy with how it turned out, would I have done a few things differently if I was to spend money on materials for this project? Definitely, I would but for my first headboard I am very happy and it is getting the job done! So here is your reminder that you don’t have to spend a bunch of money to make stuff, well I guess technically we spent money on these materials but that was years ago so it free - girl math!
