In case you missed it, here are this year’s Why Not Niwot? award winners! Huge congratulations to all four artists, and a big thank you to everyone who came out, voted, and made this year’s 15th show one to remember.

Grand Prize: “Slow Newsday” by Jason Taittinger. A mixed media piece of the former Niwot Tribune building, with a red fox as the one splash of color against the muted scene.

Prints, cards, and w**e featuring the Grand Prize piece are available now at Osmosis Gallery, with proceeds supporting the NCAA.

2nd Place and People’s Choice Winner: “Vintage Niwot” by Valerie St. Marie. A watercolor portrait of Wise Buys Antiques, drawn from her own memories of Niwot’s antique shop era. A rare case of the judges and the public landing on the same favorite.

3rd Place: “No News From Home” by Eileen Dolbeare. A photograph of a mounted cowboy outside the Tribune building, with the feel of an old Western film.

Niwot Legacy Award: “Left Hand” by Lee Tripi. An oil painting depicting Eldred Poisal, a descendant of Snake Woman, sister of Chief Left Hand, for whom Niwot is named.

If you went to Fireside Elementary in Louisville, you might already know her. She was the founding art teacher there for 27 years.
