Right now, the river has been running one generation from approximately 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, creating excellent opportunities to get out and enjoy a day on the water. Some guests come for a stay… and leave as family.

This past week, we had the pleasure of hosting Steven and his wife here at Cold Water Trout Resort. By the end of the week, it felt like we had known them for years. We shared a night out on the boat chasing trout, enjoyed lunch together at Heidi's Ugly Cakes & More, spent a couple of evenings fishing from the dock, and simply enjoyed great conversation and even better company.

As they were leaving, Steven handed me an incredible gift—my very first fly fishing rod. If I remember correctly, it's a personally restored 1947 True Temper fly rod, a beautiful light brown piece of craftsmanship and history. It's something I'll treasure for a long time.

When Amy and I bought this resort, we hoped we'd create a place where people could relax, make memories, and enjoy world-class fishing. What we didn't fully realize was how many amazing people would walk through our doors and become part of our story.

I started this adventure by purchasing a trout resort. Thanks to Steven, I now have a new adventure ahead of me… learning the art of fly fishing.

Thank you, Steven and your wife, for your kindness, friendship, and for reminding us why we do this. The fish are always waiting, and you'll always have family here at Cold Water Trout Resort. ❤️🎣

These Canada geese have become regular visitors around the dock lately, and we’ve enjoyed seeing them make themselves at home along the river.

There’s something peaceful about watching wildlife go about its day while the fog hangs over the water and the river slowly wakes up. It’s just another reminder of why we love being here at Cold Water Trout Resort.

Whether you’re here to fish, relax, or simply enjoy the beauty of the North Fork River, moments like this are part of what makes the experience special.
