Kim's June Spotlight:

Lightbreakers
by Aja Gabe

"This book is not your typical time-travel book. It's fairly slow-paced and meditative. It's a beautiful exploration of grief and about how we change in relationships and how our relationships change us. Some of the scenes from this book are so lovely and poignant that months after reading it I still think about them. Some really heavy subject matter in this one so it's worth checking the content warnings but also definitely worth the read."

Better Than The Movie Book Club meets at Legally Brewed on June 28, 2026 to discuss and watch Are you There God? It's me Margaret by Judy Blume.

Description:
Margaret Simon, almost twelve, likes long hair, tuna fish, the smell of rain, and things that are pink. She’s just moved from New York City to Farbook, New Jersey, and is anxious to fit in with her new friends—Nancy, Gretchen, and Janie. When they form a secret club to talk about private subjects like boys, bras, and getting their first periods, Margaret is happy to belong.

But none of them can believe Margaret doesn’t have religion, and that she isn’t going to the Y or the Jewish Community Center. What they don’t know is Margaret has her own very special relationship with God. She can talk to God about everything—family, friends, even Moose Freed, her secret crush.

Margaret is funny and real. As you read her story, you’ll know why this book has been the favorite of millions of readers. It’s as if Margaret is talking right to you, sharing her secrets with a friend.

Sarah's June Spotlight:

When the Wolf Comes Home
by Nat Cassidy

"When I read a description of this book that listed The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin and Terminator 2 as inspirations, I knew I was going to like it.

The action starts the moment a struggling actress finds a lost child running from his monstrous father. The two embark on a terrifying and surreal journey to escape a creature born of nightmares.

This book was thrilling and scary and also managed to pack a real emotional punch. Nat Cassidy's sob inducing afterward was the cherry on this nightmare sundae."

Prism People Book Club meets on Friday, June 26th at The Lore to discuss Bury Your G**s by Chuck Tingle.

Description:

Bury Your G**s is a heart-pounding new novel from USA Today bestselling author Chuck Tingle about what it takes to succeed in a world that wants you dead.

Misha knows that chasing success in Hollywood can be hell.

But finally, after years of trying to make it, his big moment is here: an Oscar nomination. And the executives at the studio for his long-running streaming series know just the thing to kick his career to the next level: kill off the gay characters, "for the algorithm," in the upcoming season finale.

Misha refuses, but he soon realizes that he's just put a target on his back. And what's worse, monsters from his horror movie days are stalking him and his friends through the hills above Los Angeles.

Haunted by his past, Misha must risk his entire future - before the horrors from the silver screen find a way to bury him for good.

We already have a lot of fiber spinners in our community, and Kim has really gotten into the hobby as well. We know that spinning can be difficult to bring to our Whatcha Working on Wednesday craft nights because we don’t have enough space to accommodate spinning wheels. So, with some encouragement from our awesome regulars, we decided to create a separate night for folks to bring their spinning wheels, drop spindles, wool-processing tools, and more, so we can all work on turning fiber into yarn together!

We will meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6pm at The Lore! Please note that this is not a class. We do plan on offering teaching nights as well, but for now this is a group that will meet, hang out and spin yarn together.
