From the photographic archives of the Cleveland County Historical Society, we have written a pictorial history of Norman, Oklahoma that covers the over night settlement, the entrepreneurial character of settlers, the growth of a university town, the effects of the Great Depression on the town and the two Naval bases established in Norman in 1943 .
