After 35 years as a New Balance retailer, they have decided we don't buy enough shoes from them to be able to continue as a New Balance retailer. Many other retailers are in the same position as us. That is the gratitude they have given to all the small businesses that built their business. COVID really ramped things up when their Direct to Consumer site almost wiped out many small retailers. In July 2020, Michelangelo was asked to make custom shoes and custom inserts for a patient with Ectrodactyly.

Ectrodactyly, split hand, cleft hand, derived from the Greek ektroma (abortion) and daktylos (finger) involves the deficiency or absence of one or more central digits of the hand or foot and is also known as split hand/split foot malformation

The patient was great to work with and a super nice guy. We did a 360 degree plaster cast of his feet, as well as a foam box impression of both feet. From that custom work boots with protective safety toes and custom inserts were made.

The patient called me about two months ago to let me know how well he was doing and how much he appreciated a pair of work boots that actually fit his feet.
