What are we reading this summer? Whether you're on the beach, sitting at a dock, leaning against a car window, or going about your everyday life, a book can be in your hand that you just can't put down. Instead of scouring several sites for hours, I've found a perfectly peculiar summer read that will leave you on the edge of your seat, wondering if everything is as it seems.
Strange Houses: A Chilling Mystery Unraveled Through Sinister Floor Plans, by anonymous Japanese author and YouTuber Uketsu, is a mysterious and somewhat macabre novel that follows the author and his architect friend as they investigate a house in Tokyo where people enter and suddenly disappear, never to be seen again. Then, a body appears, and the opportunity to investigate another strange house arises.
The mysterious circumstances drew me in - how did this all occur, and what was the motive? As I turned each page, I became more invested, trying to figure out what was really happening in these houses. The accompanying diagrams or blueprints of the houses aid in visualization and forming theories about the truth behind the mystery. You may think you've figured it all out, or your thoughts may seem absurd, but maybe that's where the truth lies. That's for you to decide when you read it, and isn't that where the fun is? I would highly recommend this peculiar and puzzling book for you to read this summer!
