It’s a little scary to think about phones “discipling” the next generation, but we have to acknowledge the influence they have.

The average teen spends nearly 5 hours a day on social media alone. Almost half say they’re online “almost constantly.”

But phones shouldn’t get all the blame.

If we’re not stepping in to disciple them as parents, mentors, friends, and leaders, we leave a void that something else will gladly fill.

Young people are actually hungry for real relationship (probably as a refreshing breather from their devices) and are returning to the church out of genuine interest in authentic connection and truth. (According to a 2025 Barna study)

They’re being discipled by something. The more important question is—by whom?

Turn around. Someone’s following. 🤍

So proud of the 300+ student athletes who stepped up and said YES leadership with FCA at this year‘s training! 🙌🏼

HIS WAY > MY WAY.

I don’t know about you, but I need these constant reminders that His way is always better.

The world likes to tell us there’s a better way. But sometimes…

Popular ≠ Wise
Normal ≠ Healthy
Common ≠ God’s design

Just because everyone else is thinking it, doing it, trying it, doesn’t mean it’s best.

Mentors help remind us that there’s often a better (yes, often unpopular) way that leads to better outcomes.

We must constantly avoid being conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of our minds (Romans 12:2).

I’m thankful for these reminders in Scripture, and for the women in my life that encourage me with a better way.

Send this to a mentee you love. 🫶

Alcohol + late nights + fertile window = recipe for bad decisions.

Have you ever noticed how often hookup culture and alcohol seem to go hand in hand in college?

One study on first-semester college women found that alcohol was involved in 64% of the hookups they reported.

Of course we know alcohol lowers our inhibitions, but Dr. Joe Malone recently taught me something interesting that I think girls should know.

Around ovulation, testosterone can rise, and research has also found that alcohol can increase testosterone in women.

Combine lowered inhibitions with increased s*xual desire and the temptation of our typical hookup culture, and it can become a lot easier to make decisions that don’t align with God’s design for s*x and marriage.

This isn’t to cause shame or spread fear, but to make girls aware of what’s happening biologically and how outside factors can affect our decision making.

My advice? Remove the temptation. Avoid the environment. Create your own curfew (I know, sounds lame but it worked for me).

Your body, spirit, and soul will thank you.

When I was younger, I struggled with the idea of “purity culture,” and in fact—still do.

But I realized that’s the enemy’s goal—to try and confuse a concept that God meant for our good and His glory.

Over the years, I’ve rested on these truths about s*x and hookup culture:

◦ God’s design for marriage and s*x is best—and it’s to protect us, not to steal our fun.
◦ Girls regret hookups because we’re not designed for them—and God’s right design will never leaves us feeling shame or regret.
◦ We do not become “impure” if we’ve messed up here already—when we repent, we’re washed clean by God’s grace and mercy.
◦ The science of our bodies aligns beautifully with Scripture and God’s plan for dating, intimacy, s*x, and marriage.

In this interview, Dr. Joe Malone and I talked through some of the research he’s done over the years—both during his Ph.D. and after. He shared some eye-opening statistics around the hookup culture and why s*x outside of marriage wasn’t God’s design for our bodies, brains, or souls.

“I love the idea of mentorship, but as a mom, I want to be my daughter’s mentor—her safe place she can always go to for help.”

I loved this comment from a mentor mom who stopped by my booth last week at my first Teach Them Diligently Christian Homeschooling Conference in Pigeon Forge.

Mentoring our own kids is always the goal, but remember this: it is no reflection on you as a parent if your kids don’t come to you first.

I think God knew young people would need outside perspective and encouragement during those years when teens sometimes see mom and dad as “the enemies.” And this is where the body of Christ comes in.

If your daughter is one who just won’t open up and talk about her struggles, know this is more normal than you may think.

Pray for God to bring a Bible-believing mentor into her life—someone who will speak truth over her and will pray her forward.

It takes a village. More importantly, it takes a church.

What a joy to host a booth at Teach Them Diligently!

I was so impressed with this beautiful conference gathering Christian homeschoolers from all over the southeast!

I was number 10 on the waitlist for quite some time but had such a peace that I would be there. Ask, seek, knock—I was so grateful when the door finally opened!

I was so touched by the excitement from girls when they saw my book at this conference 🥹 So many beautiful new connections with homeschool moms who will be starting More Precious Than Pearls with their girls!

Thank you for having me, TTD!

Wondering what “The MentHer Collective” is all about?!

“TMC” (as we call it) is our fully virtual online community for moms, mentors, women in ministry—really anyone who feels called to lead and disciple the next generation!

Hint: we’re all called to disciple, so that might just mean you! 😉😆

We meet twice a month to hear from a guest speaker who shares an encouraging message on the month’s topic and to fellowship, reflect, and pray.

In June, Dr. Gary Thomas (bestselling author of Sacred Search, Sacred Marriage, and many others) will be joining us!

And in July, Dr. Joe Malone, known was the “s3xual integrity scientist” will be speaking on purity and self-control—he brilliantly shares the science behind girls’ struggles in this area from a biblical perspective.

Mentors need mentors too—join us any time! Link is in bio or visit our website and click “mentors” —> The MentHer Collective!

That still small voice you keep hearing? Good chance it’s the Holy Spirit.

If it’s a good voice—a loving voice, it’s probably God.

If it’s a condemning voice (i.e. “it’s too late,” “you’re too far gone,” “there’s no going back now,” “this is the way you are”)—that’s not God.

God’s not out to trick you or confuse you.

His plans for you are GOOD and He wants to free you from every stronghold, unhealthy habit, or infatuation in your life that isn’t serving you or Him.

It’s not to shame you or guilt you into submission—but to sharpen you in healthy conviction because a good father disciplines His children.

Say yes, wave the white flag, and ask for help. Seek wisdom. Tell someone you’re struggling and need prayer for self-control.

You’re not in this alone, sis.

I sometimes feel convicted about my high school and college years…

I know God uses all things for good, but I’ll be honest:

In high school, I obsessed over achievement. I was involved in way too much, leaving little time for rest and intentional time with Jesus.

I was caught up in “appearances” and winning—leading to unhealthy perfectionism that ended up affecting my health.

Then, in college, my pendulum swung in the opposite direction and I became obsessed with having fun.

I actually became a “club promoter” and was out with friends most nights of the week (and weekend).

I was doing a LOT of things that did not matter…that had no Kingdom impact. In fact, were actually hurting me.

Sometimes I think about the impact my ministry could have made by now had I started in my early 20s when I was wasting time on fitting in and worrying about what everyone else was doing.

Don’t make the same mistakes—bring your schedule to God and ask Him what REALLY matters.

I promise He’ll make it clear.
