Be there or be square!
FARA gives us hope; PLA gives us the chance to create change:
Many years ago, Sam and I were diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia (FA). Shortly after, our mom connected with a small group of parents led by Ron and Raychel Bartek, whose son had also recently been diagnosed.
Although the group was small, they were determined. In 1998, they founded the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA), with a vision of accelerating research and bringing hope to families like ours. Under Ron and Raychel's leadership, that small organization grew into the incredible force it is today.
Today, we see an amazing and dedicated community of researchers, advocates, families, and supporters who continue pushing forward every day until no one has to face the challenges of FA.
Our mom held her first fundraiser shortly after Sam was diagnosed in 1995 and has remained committed to this mission ever since. Today, Sam and I are proud to be there beside her and help continue that work in support of FARA.
The challenges and lessons that came with living with FA also helped inspire the creation of Peace Love ACCESSibility. Through PLA, we have found another way to turn our experiences into something positive by educating, advocating, and working alongside our communities to improve access, inclusion, and understanding.
FARA gave our family hope for a cure. PLA gave us a way to create change today.
That is why this year's event brings together two causes that are deeply personal to our family: supporting critical FA research through FARA while also advancing accessibility, inclusion, and community awareness through PLA.
We hope you'll join us on September 3rd at the beautiful Owenego Inn for an evening that means so much to our family. Every detail has been thoughtfully chosen and carries special meaning to us.
Together, we can celebrate access, inclusion, hope, and the pursuit of a cure.
