Gather round children for story time! So Saturday night I get a message from Dave Collects who is manning the booth with JD and he has a mom and son who come up to the booth. They had bought a pack of cards from one of the other "vendors" and wanted us to tell them if they were real. As soon as Dave looked at them he knew they were fake AF. Because of who he is and what we do, he takes the cards from the kid and hands him a fresh pack of pitch black to make it right.
Sunday Sally Parente walks over and buys 4 packs for 20$. 2 phantasmal flames and 2 mega evolution. The seal on the packs was off(smooth not crimped), the weight was off(way lighter), 5$ a pack for those was off. The moment we open the first pack, you can see the knockoff shiny on the top.
I take them and walk over to Kate who was in charge of the vendors and tell her what happens. She takes off with security, makes them take them down, gets us our money back and puts them on the not to return list. I want to say thank you for how they handled it and how quickly they did.
Anyone that knows us, knows that we do this because we enjoy it. I couldn't have someone out there ripping off kids and family with cheap counterfeit cards. Us and Gayas Cradle | RI Hobby & Game Store were set up selling all sorts of goodies for the weekend for you and I couldn't have that looking bad on either one of us.
Never be afraid to say something and stick up for what's right. And if it seems too good to be true, it probably is
