🌿 Where My Creativity Began
People often ask me how I became an artist, and the truth is... it started long before Hammer & Stain Wickford.
As a little girl, I was always bringing home rocks, sticks, grapevines, dried flowers, shells—anything I thought was beautiful. Most parents might have wondered what I was doing, but my mom simply smiled and made room for my growing collections, often filling her basement with my latest "treasures." She encouraged every creative idea, believed in my dream of attending art school, and never stopped cheering me on.
My dad was a sign maker and Christmas tree farmer who taught me to appreciate craftsmanship, natural materials, and the pride that comes from making something with your own two hands.
Looking back, I realize how fortunate I was to have parents who nurtured both my imagination and my creativity.
Today, every workshop I teach carries a little piece of those lessons. My hope is that when you walk into the studio, you feel encouraged to create, explore, and discover something you didn't know you could make.
❤️ I'd love to know… Who first encouraged your creativity?
