Today for a long overdue update to my page, I have a pretty exciting one.
Yesterday we received 7 new Jeeps, 5 of which are technically a whole new model.
Jeep is introducing the brand new Grand Cherokee L, essentially a long wheelbase version of the Grand Cherokee with a standard feature being the 50/50 split third row seating. Also for the release of this model there has been a large redesign of the interior and exterior.
This release is exciting for a couple reasons. One is the fact that the Grand Cherokee is getting a third row for the first time ever stepping it up into the "full size SUV" realm. Two is that the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee are both being replaced within the next few years by the reintroduction of the Wagoneer name! The new lineup will include the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer to take the place of two of Jeeps longest standing namesakes.

The other two models we received are both 4xe hybrid Wranglers. The white one, as the word emblazoned on the side of the hood makes obvious, is a Rubicon. The most off-road ready and rugged Wrangler Jeep has to offer. This one has a "one-touch" roof which means there's a hardtop roofline with a soft cloth section down the entire length in the center which slides back to open up with the single touch of a button.
The "Sting Gray" model pictured is another 4xe but with the Sahara trim package. Essentially this trim gives you all the same interior comfort features of a Rubicon but with a slightly more comfortable ride. The Sahara is one step below the Rubicon as far as trim levels are concerned but one step above as far as comfort goes in my opinion.

Today I have stock # 39799. A 2020 Hyundai Kona SE with a 2.0L 4 cylinder and an automatic transmission. 25,3xx miles.

On Fridays I want to stick to a routine of posting either facts about the vehicles we service or sharing some basic vehicle maintenance tips. Almost everyone drives but not so many people anymore can really get through servicing or even checking some components on their vehicles.
Newer vehicles and the systems they employ are usually very complicated, parts and tools are expensive, and there's a huge amount of stuff to learn about. Even going to YouTube can be a hassle because of how different most components are between almost all makes and models and there's frankly some people who post false information as a joke.

I decided to keep the train rolling on facts about the brands we serve so today I'm highlighting 10 facts about the Chrysler brand.

1) Chrysler was founded on June 6, 1925 by Walter Chrysler. Before that, it had operated as the Maxwell Motor Company since 1904.
2) Between 1920 and 1924, Walter Chrysler worked with three former Studebaker engineers, Fred Zeder, Owen Skelton, and Carl Breer to design a revolutionary new car. The three agreed that the Chrysler brand should stand for affordable luxury vehicles known for innovative engineering.
3) The first Chrysler was the 1924 Chrysler Six and cost $1,565 ($24,440.91 in todays money). The car featured two significant innovations - a light, powerful, high-compression six-cylinder engine and the first time four-wheel hydraulic brakes were standard on a passenger car.
4) Walter Chrysler designed four more models for the coming year: the 50, 60, 70 and Imperial 80. The numbers corresponded to the maximum velocity the cars could reach on a level stretch of road. Up until that point, Ford's Model T had been the fastest vehicle at 35 mph and Chrysler's innovations scared the company enough that they closed for nine months to work on a replacement for the Model T.
5) In 1928, Chrysler was able to expand and open the De Soto and Plymouth divisions. Later that year, Chrysler purchased Dodge for $170 Million. ($2.6 Billion in todays money)
6) During WWII, Chrysler halted the manufacture of its vehicles and made defense hardware like small arm ammunition and submarine nets instead. Its main war products, though, were B-29 bomber engines and anti-aircraft guns and tanks.
7) In the 1960s Chrysler formed a space division and became the primary contractor for the Saturn booster rocket. (The Saturn V rocket launched 13 times and carried a total of 24 astronauts to the moon between Dec. 1968 and Dec. 1972 with no loss of crew or payload.)
8.) Chrysler bought American Motors Corporation (AMC) in 1987, primarily because Chrysler's Lee Iacocca (A designer of the Ford Mustang) wanted the Jeep brand, which was thriving. AMC became the Jeep-Eagle division of Chrysler.
9) Chryslers first electric vehicle was the 1992 Dodge EPIC concept minivan. In 1993, it sold a limited-production electric minivan called the TEVan.
10) Mopar, a combination of the words "motor" and "parts", is the parts, service, and customer care organization within Chrysler that has been around since 1937. It started out creating antifreeze but has since become a global brand all on its own.

Since we're primarily a Jeep dealership, I thought I'd start the day with 5 fun facts about the Jeep brand.

1) The first Jeep was a byproduct of WWII. In June 1940 the U.S. Army asked automakers to create a quarter ton light reconnaissance vehicle. of the 135 automakers solicited, only 3 responded. Ford, Bantam, and Willy's. The three companies worked together to create a template for the first Jeep vehicle and once that template was created, it only took 75 days to produce a prototype. on Veterans Day, 1940 that first prototype was presented to the U.S. Army and the primary contract was awarded to Willy's-Overland.

2) Ford gets credit for the Jeep's iconic 7 slotted grille. The company's Pilot model GP-No.1 "pygmy" started with 13 slots, then 9, then ended with 7 in 1945.

3) A Jeep received a Purple Heart. A Marine Corps. Jeep that was the first to land on Guadalcanal received a retirement order and a Purple Heart for bullet holes in its windshield.

4) Jeep isn't a standalone company. The Jeep brand has had eight different owners, starting with Willy's-Overland, then moving to Kaiser jeep, American Motor Corp, Renault, Chrysler Corporation, Daimler Chrysler, Chrysler LLC., and finally ending with its current owner, Fiat-Chrysler.

5) The first civilian Jeep was the CJ-2A. It came out in the 1940s and offered features the military version didn't have, like a tailgate, an external fuel cap, and a side-mounted spare tire. The company was hoping it would appeal to farmers and construction workers.

Today I wanted to highlight a new car along with the used inventory and here we have a 2020 Fiat 124 spider Abarth
(Stock #144501) with only 41 miles!
The classica (base) trim 124 spider is peppy and pretty enough but the Abarth is Fiat's higher trim level powered by the same turbocharged 1.4L 4cyl engine with an additional 4 horsepower.
The performance of the Abarth really shines when you switch on "sport" mode which improves acceleration by allowing the engine to produce maximum torque at only 2400 rpm as opposed to the normal 3200 rpms.
