If it was built in CA during the 70’s and 80’s, chances are good the wood supplied for the structure was transported in a car just like this! We just got in this very rare and unique Sacramento Valley Moulding HO all-door boxcar, highly detailed by Walthers! SVM had their mill located at Crescent Mills, CA, which produced board lumber, wood moulding, interior trim, and other wood products. There’s no doubt northern California mills had a hand in the development of suburbs across the state and country.

The A-10 Thunderbolt II proved once again why it earned the name “flying tank” — an attack aircraft built to absorb catastrophic damage and still drag its pilot home.

In 2003, over Iraq, Captain Kim Campbell found herself in every pilot’s nightmare. Her A-10 had been hit hard. Hydraulic systems were gone. Flight controls were failing. The aircraft was so badly damaged it should barely have remained in the air. Ejecting was an option — but over hostile territory, it could have been a death sentence.

So Campbell chose the only path left.

She switched to manual reversion and flew the crippled jet by sheer skill, judgment, and nerve. No normal handling. No easy recovery. Just a wounded aircraft, a pilot under extreme pressure, and a fight to keep both alive.

And somehow, against the odds, she made it back, safely.

It became one of the most remarkable A-10 survival stories ever recorded — a moment that showed exactly what makes the Thunderbolt II legendary: brutal survivability, ruthless simplicity, and a design built for war at its ugliest.

But it also proved something else. Even the toughest aircraft in the sky is only as strong as the pilot fighting to bring it home.
