Genesis Academy, LLC is implementing an important update to our policy regarding Maryland Wear & Carry Renewal courses to ensure compliance with state requirements and proper course placement.
Effective immediately, all students attending a renewal class will be required to present a valid, non-expired Wear & Carry permit on the day of their scheduled training. Verification will take place prior to the start of class.
Please be advised that an expired permit is not considered a renewal. If you register for a renewal course and your permit is expired at the time of class, you will be required to attend an additional training day to meet the full course requirements. In this case, you will also be responsible for paying the remaining balance for the full two-day course.

IMPORTANT REMINDER REGARDING WEAR AND CARRY PERMIT RENEWALS:
• Wear and Carry Permit renewal applications must be submitted prior to the expiration date of your current permit.
• Renewal applications submitted after the expiration date will be rejected and will require you to apply as a new applicant, including:
o Completion of a 16-hour fi****ms safety training course
o Submission of new Livescan fingerprints
o Payment of all original application fees
Frequently Asked Questions
If my permit has expired, can I still submit my application as a renewal?
No. An expired permit is not a renewal. All expired Wear & Carry permits must be submitted as an original application, including all required fees, fingerprints, training, and documentation.
If my permit expires before I receive my renewed permit, can I still carry?
• If your renewal application is submitted through the Licensing Portal at least fourteen (14) days prior to your permit’s expiration date, you may continue to carry using your expired permit until your renewed permit is received.
• If your application is returned for corrections and resubmitted after two (2) weeks, you will not be permitted to carry until your renewal is approved.
