you can find me in our dahlias until further notice!!!

harvesting dahlias is a labor of love bc I sanitize my snips in between each plant. I rotate about 10 + snips every time I harvest and while it’s exhausting, I feel confident I’m doing as much as I can to maintain a healthy stock. anywhoo - are you team apricot or team pink?! I’m team both bc I can never make a decision as serious as that

What I meant to say was… respectfully, don’t marry a freaking loser 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼

Jokes aside, farming without help is unruly. I wouldn’t be able to do it without my husband and I give a big hats off to the ones that farm alone. All of the lifting, the building, the hauling soil and ripping sod is back breaking work… that I’d rather pass to my husband 🤷🏼‍♀️ he enjoys it, I promise

Love & flowers and no losers,

it’s like the epitome of a dream summer wrapped up in kraft paper, right!!??

i planned all of these colors LAST year to have for these blooms! isn’t that crazy?! growing flowers truly makes you slow down and appreciate what’s right in front of you because well… it takes a long while to see it all come to fruition!

I’ve learned how to make bouquets a few different ways and the spiral is one of my favs. It’s perfect for creating lush garden style bouquets and custom orders. It takes a lot of time opposed to making market style bouquets but once you get the hang of it, it is so much easier to work with. Anyways - here’s what I used for this moody one

ingredients:

- KA’s Boho Rose Dahlia (super early bloomer!)

- Queeny Red Lime Zinnia

- Pink Echinacea

- Clary Sage

- Bronze Nicotiana

- Ammobium

- Apple of Peru

- Cosmos Versailles (fav cosmos)

- Cosmos Apricotta

- Amaranthus Coral Fountains (my fav)

- Snapdragon Madame butterfly Bronze

- Snapdragon Avignon Silver

- Snapdragon Double Frappe Light Pink (adoreeeee)

can I tell you something? not a highlight reel moment?

I’d been feeling really poorly about not being accepted into my local farmers market this year. I’ve really let it mess with my heart for the past 6 months and it’s so silly. Especially because my crop plan this season wouldn’t have allowed it anyways! I had this amazing plan for all of our flowers but I burnt up more than half of my seedlings with a new fertilizer 😵‍💫 that’s around 1000 plants. I have to show you a photo, it’s truly amazing that these flowers STILL grew this gorgeous despite their circumstances. Before you ask, yes I’m sure it was a “it’s not you, it’s me” situation and I over did the solution. I’ve definitely learned to stick with your tried & true and do not measure with your heart 🥴

So in the end, it’s all worked out and my amazing repeat customers still come out to the shed, we have events lined up and sold OUT so that’s all that really matters at the moment. Trying to find the good in a crummy situation is challenging for me when I’m working so hard but luckily my husband is mr radical positivity’s BFF and keeps me in check (not always but sometimes)!! The dahlias are blooming! I have my dream varieties and some of the healthiest plants I’ve ever grown! I have the most gorgeous pathways! Twinkly lights and my kids are happy!! All good and beautiful things :)

Anyways —— if you’re having a challenging growing season, just know that NO two seasons are the same and there is always room to learn, grow and give gratitude to the things that go “wrong”

Love & flowers,
