Our friend Zaneta (ZANETA) has a brand new album out today - ‘Invitations from the Land: the Zena Highwoods ‘ and we have copies in stock! Check out the info below and come to by the store on Friday, October 9 at 5:30pm - we will be listening to the album in full together!

Invitations from the Land: the Zena Highwoods is a double-vinyl, gatefold album featuring a year of forest soundscapes and wildlife illustrations from the Zena Highwoods in the Eastern Catksills. 

Created in partnership with the Woodstock Land Conservancy and inspired by Filipinx traditions, the album features a year of recordings made on the winter solstice, spring equinox, summer solstice, and autumn equinox from December 21, 2024 through September 23, 2025.

During this same time period, nature illustrator Zoe Keller separately documented over 270 species of flora and fauna in the Zena Highwoods in her project Biodiversity of Zena Woods.

These two projects are combined on this album, allowing listeners to experience the full spectrum of biodiversity across the seasons in the Zena Highwoods. 

Listeners will hear the iconic sounds of the Catksills, such as barred owls, bald eagles, black bears, red-shouldered hawks, spring peepers, crickets, cicadas, and songbirds.
