Why I love Bullseye -
One of my recurring young anglers (Everett) was here this morning brightening the store up with his enthusiasm and laughter. I also had a new customer in store at the same time. Everett and his dad checked out and left. The new customer and I got into a discussion about the youngsters that come into the store. I made him aware of my sponsorship with Wentzville Student Anglers.
He checked out and paid with cash. When I handed him the change he told me to put it down on the counter. He put his business card on top of it and said put the change to some young anglers of my choosing.
I have put the money on a gift card that I have at the counter.
I told him I was going to tell this story on Facebook.

I just wanted to put this warning out there. I think Ive heard this scam is out there just didnt think Id be taking part. Not fishing related....
I received a call this morning on my personal cell phone. No caller ID. The gentleman identified himself as St Charles County Sherriff Dept officer. Long story/short they explained that I had missed a Jury Duty call. This call sounded pretty authentic overall, I think he had my name and address but I started to get suspicious. They said I had signed a Certified Mail delivery of the summons. I said it was impossible because I live by myself and I'm here 12 hrs/day minimum. They wanted me to come in for a signature comparison. Said it would only take 20 minutes. I told him I wanted to see proof of this summons and signature. He said I had to post a Bond before I came into the building because I would be detained for 72 hrs if I set foot on government property. He said I couldnt discuss this matter with anyone, the bond had to be cash (refundable of course) and he couldnt/wouldnt take credit card info and there were several "drop sites". I asked if I could call the OFallon Police dept to confirm all of this. He said they were 1 in the same. I told him I wanted to record the call. He said we are currently being recorded. I told him I was going to hang up and he said I would be detained in the future with any check of my id.
Little did he know I have connections...
It was checked. I have not had a jury duty summons since 2015. I am not on the FBI Most Wanted list. This was a scam.
Be aware. Like I said this sounded pretty realistic with just a few little things that made me question the authenticity.
