The Salvage Society is looking for a Cashier + Key Holder to join our little thrift store crew 🛍️💜

This is a part-time weekend position perfect for someone looking for a few extra hours and who LOVES thrifting, vintage finds, and helping people

📅 Saturdays | 11 AM–4 PM
➕ Potential Sundays | 12 PM–3 PM
💵 Cash pay
🔑 Key holder responsibilities included

What I’m looking for:
✔️ Reliable & responsible
✔️ Friendly and comfortable talking with customers
✔️ Able to work independently
✔️ Trustworthy (you’ll be handling the register & opening/closing)
✔️ Someone who genuinely enjoys the thrift store environment!

Your typical Saturday might include ringing up customers, keeping the store organized, helping shoppers find things, & restocking.

This is a small, locally owned thrift store, so if you’re looking for a fun, laid-back environment where every day is a little different, this could be a great fit!

I would love for this to become law here in the US as well

Did you know retailers destroy merch they can’t sell because they’d rather do that than give it away??

Makes me sick to think about. Destroying the planet purely focused on profit 😢

That’s why our mission here at the Salvage Society is SO important. Repurpose and reuse as much as we can so items DONT wind up in a landfill so future generations can continue to enjoy the beautiful place we all call home 🌎

A new EU rule made it illegal for large fashion companies to destroy unsold clothes, shoes and accessories, in an effort to reduce waste from the fashion industry.

The ban applies to large companies with more than 250 employees and over €50 million in annual turnover.

Instead of throwing away or burning unwanted stock, businesses will now have to look for other options, such as discounts, donations or selling products in different markets.

The change could have a significant impact. According to the European Environment Agency (EEA), around 4% to 9% of unsold textile products in the EU are destroyed each year, while roughly one in five fashion items bought online is returned and often never resold.

By encouraging companies to reuse, resell or donate more of what they produce, the EU hopes to cut unnecessary waste and emissions and push the fashion industry toward producing clothes that stay in use for longer.
