What a great day with our friends at Oak Hill High School. Let me start this with I have been friends with Mr. Bryce Werntz for many, many years. I am going to get rid of a lot of the formality I use because Bryce, or W as many of his kids call him, is like me. Down to earth. Considers himself a teacher first and is doing what’s best for kids. The young lady with us is a pre-service teacher, Holly Barger. She is a senior at my Alma Mater, THE Ohio State University, and a student of W’s.
I got to work with percussion and woodwinds today and I was welcomed with hospitality. I have been blessed the whole tour with receptive kids and this was no different. The Oak Hill Band culture is phenomenal and W is trying some different music this year. No spoilers, but W is going outside his comfort zone and his band is cooking!
If you notice W holding onto something in the picture, it is the new Rio Band spirit belt I bought for the band. I’ll talk more about it later but we are going to have a great time!
Bryce, thank you for having me. I felt welcome and I had a blast, friend.
