Amazon review:
Every school and library NEEDS to have this book on its shelves. A discovery of old letters leads to something so much more...The [children's] curiosity about what certain words in the letters meant, led them to an African American grandmother who in her own unique way, educated the children...
Acceptance and understanding will bring people together. People can change and understand one another if only given the chance. Brilliant, witty, funny and educational. I highly recommend this book for 4th grade and up.

Nine year-old Debbie Folino believes she can do most anything, but when she takes a dare to trick-or-treat the old witch living in the spooky house at the end of Oak Street, she discovers eighty-year-old Sara Baker, who will change her life forever. Sara becomes the mentor who opens a new world for her young friend. She guides her through the trials of growing, loving, sharing, and even death. Most of all, Sara introduces Debbie and her family to someone who will become an even more important person in their lives, Jesus Christ. A collection of stories with chapters.

The tsunami was coming, and the entire village was in its path, but the elderly couple was too old and weak to flee like everyone else. Instead, they chose to take refuge in the only place they could think of. It was the same place they went every Sunday to worship. But the tiny church was also in the wave’s mighty path. Was kneeling at an altar in prayer enough for God to save them?

Hailey is a little girl in a wheelchair who wishes she could run and jump like her friends. She is in a wheelchair because she was born too early. Her brain didn't have enough time to grow all of the way, so the part that told her legs how to walk didn't work. Sometimes Hailey thinks she wants to be someone else "not" in a wheelchair. But does she really?

"I was fascinated in how she was wanting to be out of a wheelchair, but when she saw all the stuff she missed being in a wheelchair." - Haidyn, 4th grade.

"I love how she can float out of her window in a dream, and I love the dogfish." - Josephine, preschool

"I love this book because Hailey learned that she's not missing out!" - Zach, 4th grade
