Hi friends! ❤️

I've been a shopkeeper on Piedmont Avenue for 20 years. And when I thought we were going to have to leave, I found a way to make peace with it.

I'm older now. I've had some heart issues. Maybe it was time to slow down. We'd had a pretty rock star run on the Avenue! I could hold my head high, spend more time enjoying our Airbnb in Sonoma County, and continue doing what I love at our Rockridge shop.

But it just didn't feel right.

It felt like the decision was being made for me. And if you know me, you know I'm not very good at settling.

I believe in Piedmont Avenue. I believe our little block is one of the best retail blocks around. I looked at other spaces, but refused to compromise.

And then something magical happened. We found a new home. Right across the street!

Tonight, I finished designing our very first window. Hopefully the first of hundreds more. And standing there looking at it, I got a little emotional.

I've poured my heart, my soul, and every ounce of love I have into creating something beautiful. Something that says to the Avenue and my wonderful Oakland people: We're here. We're staying. And our love affair with this town is far from over.

I get to do it all again! Design windows. Find wonderful, quirky things. Help you choose gifts. Wrap them beautifully. Chat, laugh, and be part of a neighborhood that took a chance on us 20 years ago.

How lucky am I?

My heart is overflowing with gratitude. And fair warning, this weekend might involve some puffy eyes. At my age, I don't hold back. Expect happy tears. Lots of them!

Thank you for cheering us on, showing up, and reminding me why I fell in love with being an Oakland shopkeeper in the first place.

We officially open Saturday, October 10, from 10:30 to 6!
But our dear buddies are invited for a FIRST LOOK on Friday, October 9, from 5 to 7 PM!

We couldn’t be more excited to share our new Nathan & Co flagship with you this Friday from 5 to 7!

Our love for Oakland, Piedmont Avenue, and especially you, our loyal customers, inspired every part of this new shop. And, if we do say so ourselves, it’s pretty lovely.

Hi friends!
I can’t believe Labor Day is already here. Summer may be winding down, but our new Piedmont Avenue, Oakland store is definitely ramping up.
Creating this new space has pretty much consumed my summer, and I’ve poured countless hours into all the little details that make a store feel special. After doing this thing called retail for many, many years, first for big corporate brands and then for myself, I’ve learned a lot along the way. I think this new store is going to reflect all of those lessons, ideas and experiences.
The exterior got its final touches this past week, and we are absolutely over the moon with how it turned out. Inside, things are coming together beautifully too.
Here’s a little sneak peek. There will be plenty more to share in the coming days as new fixtures are built, finishing touches are added and fabulous new products start making their way onto the shelves.
We’re getting closer, and I can’t wait to show you more.

Nathan&Co is growing our Oakland sales team, and we have several positions available with flexible schedules.

Since 2006, we’ve been helping Oakland celebrate, decorate and find the perfect gift. Along the way, Nathan&Co has become one of the country’s most recognized specialty retailers, with two shops in Oakland: our Rockridge location on College Avenue and our Piedmont Avenue shop, which will soon be moving into beautiful new digs!

🔑 We got the keys today!
Our new chapter begins right where it all started...on Piedmont Avenue.
After 18 years, we’re leaving our beloved space and moving just across the street to 4024 Piedmont Avenue! We couldn’t be more excited.
We hit the ground running today, sharing our designs and vision with the contractors who can help bring it all to life. We’re thrilled about our fabulous new home, but even more thrilled that we get to stay on the Avenue where it all began.
When we couldn’t secure favorable lease terms at our current location, our hearts were broken and it felt as if no one cared that our 18 year legacy in that building would end. It truly looked like we might have to throw in the towel on Piedmont Avenue and focus solely on our College Avenue shop.
Then, at the literal last minute, this dreamy space opened up. The building owners welcomed us with open arms and are just as excited as we are to make it the new home of our beloved flagship. It feels good to be in a building with kind hearts and bright spirits.
Work begins soon as a brighter, more beautiful Nathan & Co flagship comes to life on Piedmont Avenue!
We’re staying, Piedmont Avenue. Good things do happen! ❤️

📦 Both Nathan&Co. shops are open all weekend from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM!
If you haven't stopped by our Piedmont Avenue shop lately, now is the time. The store is absolutely bulging at the seams with wonderful things, and everything is 50% off. Yes...you read that correctly. The entire store is half off.
We're getting ready for our move and need to lighten the load before packing everything up. It's a great time to stock up on gifts, treat yourself, or pick up something you've had your eye on.

Twenty years. ❤️💗❤️
We turn 20 this month, and somehow it feels like both a lifetime and the blink of an eye.
We’ve loved every single minute—helping you find the perfect gift, wrapping it up just right, and being a small part of your biggest (and smallest) moments. We’ve watched your kids grow up, helped celebrate birthdays, weddings, babies, new homes, and all the beautiful in-between moments that make life so special.
What started as a shop has truly become a community—and that’s because of you.
Thank you for letting us be part of your stories for the past 20 years. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings.
