The USEA American Eventing Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park celebrate the culmination of years of hard work and dedication from nearly 1,000 horse and rider pairs that come to compete. If you want to cement your name on the 2026 entry list, check out the top 10 things you need to know before submitting your AEC entry below:
1️⃣Entries Open July 14 & Close August 11
Secure your spot early! Don't wait until the last minute. There will likely be a waitlist for the lower levels (S, BN, N).
2️⃣ENTER NOW, QUALIFY LATER
Entries are accepted by date received—even if qualifications are still pending. Submit your entry to secure your place!
3️⃣Qualifications Must Be Completed by August 11
The qualifying period ends when entries close, but you can submit an entry before qualifying, so you don't end up on the waitlist.
4️⃣You Need 3 MERs to Qualify
Starter through Preliminary divisions require three qualifying Minimum Eligibility Requirements (MERs).
5️⃣You Must Earn 1st or 2nd Place at the Level You Wish to Compete In
Make sure your placing requirement matches the level you plan to enter.
6️⃣Horse & Rider Qualifications Can Be Earned Separately
MERs do not need to be earned as a pair. Horse and Rider can earn their qualifications individually.
7️⃣Check Your Qualification Status Online
Qualified Rider and Qualified Horse lists are updated on the AEC Competitor Information page on USEventing.com
8️⃣Adult Team Championship riders must submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) by August 1
The ATC takes place at the Starter through Modified levels, and riders must be eligible for and enter Rider or Amateur divisions to participate.
9️⃣Enter Online Through XEntry
XEntry is the preferred entry platform, but entries may also be accepted on Event Entries.
1️⃣0️⃣ Entries are not “Complete" until payment and signatures are received.
Entries that are not paid in full by closing date will be moved to the "Waitlist" and a $50 change fee will apply for reinstatement. Two releases will need to be signed and submitted electronically with entry as well to be "Accepted."
**NOTE: Qualification requirements included in this post apply for the Starter through Preliminary divisions. For more information on Intermediate and Advanced qualifications, visit useventing.com/events-competitions/competitor-information/aec-qualifications
