We are excited to announce we will be joining the network of Letter Keepers for Rebecca & Karl! This is a free penpal program that gives you an added layer of security and anonymity by having letters sent to and from shops, cafés, libraries, and galleries around the world.
More details to come! 💌
We will launch the program on Sunday, September 27 during the Occoquan Fall Arts & Crafts Show, with some letter writing starter kits and giveaways at our booth.
A few details for those too excited to wait:
- There is no fee to participate. Pen pals use their own supplies, writing materials, envelopes and postage stamps.
- Pen pals will start with an introductory letter to their new friend. No surnames, addresses or private information is shared.
- Letters should be handwritten. We will have writing prompts and suggestions if you get stuck! Decorations (stickers, drawings, washi) are always encouraged but not required!
- This program is designed for adults ages 18 and up. Children are welcome to participate in the project by writing to people they already know such as grandparents, cousins or family friends outside of the public penpal network.
- Hitchcock Paper will help you get started (and have a few goodies to help you get going), when we launch on Sept 27! We will also plan some Sunday letter writing get together’s once we coordinate the best way to do that.
