Two Days of Pastel with Mandy Ellard

This October, we're welcoming Mandy Ellard to Ethotera for a two-day workshop devoted to exploring what this medium can do.

Mandy's vibrant, expressive work captures light and nature through layers of rich color. Over two days, she'll share her approach to color, layering, composition, and building a pastel painting from beginning to end.

Making art in a place like Horn Island feels different. 🏝

The light changes constantly. The horizon seems to go on forever. No buildings, traffic, or everyday distractions; just water, wind, sand, and miles of wild landscape.

On Sunday, October 25, we're taking a small group of artists by charter boat to Horn Island for a full day of plein air painting.

This isn't a traditional workshop. There are no demonstrations, assignments, or formal instruction. Instead, you'll have something artists rarely get enough of: uninterrupted time to observe, explore, and make work in an extraordinary place.

🎨 Americana in Watercolor! 🎨

What a fun Saturday spent painting with Erinn Carty at our Americana Watercolor Workshop! These ladies were excited to dive in and learn how to capture water, reflections, and all those beautiful little details that bring a watercolor scene to life. 💦✨

And Erinn definitely came ready to set the mood! ❤️🤍💙 She showed up fully dressed in red, white & blue, complete with red glittery hair streaks and a Dolly Parton playlist to channel some great energy and good old-fashioned American country spirit! 🎶

There was plenty of creativity, laughter, learning, and a whole lot of Americana pride in the studio. We loved watching everyone put their own spin on the techniques they learned!

A big thank you to Erinn for sharing her talent, enthusiasm, and contagious energy with us—and to all of the wonderful ladies who came out to paint with us! ❤️💙
