✨ WELCOME TO THE PINK ROOSTER, SADAKO LEWIS✨

We are delighted to introduce local abstract artist from Diamondhead, Mississippi to The Pink Rooster/Gallery Garbo.

Originally from Japan, Sadako’s work beautifully brings together influences from Japanese visual traditions, European modernism, and American Abstract Expressionism, creating paintings that are both layered and deeply expressive.

Each painting begins with gestural drawing and mark-making. Throughout her process, Sadako continually rotates the canvas, exploring vertical and horizontal directions to create a dynamic and striking composition.

Her richly layered works incorporate multiple mediums, Oriental calligraphy, and collage, inviting the viewer to discover new details with every look.

Through sketches and photographs he captures the likenesses of relationships he built with local fisherman, oysterman, shrimpers and others that touched his life while living in a studio with a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Mexico in Waveland, MS, fresh out of college in 1965.
