Pit & Pendulum is the strange little dream of Adrienne & John M. DeSantis — two lifelong lovers of Halloween, horror, music, movies & all things wonderfully weird.
Adrienne & John first met on vacation as little kids, long before they knew they would eventually spend 20+ years together building a life, a family, and a crazy collection of obscure treasures that slowly took over their home.
For our family (and maybe yours?!), Halloween is not just one day a year . . .
IT IS OUR LIFE.
* It lives in all the strange little moments that make us happiest.
* It is ever-present in the media & films we consume — and the music that gives us chills.
* It drives every single design & decor decision we make.
And now, after four decades hiding in the shadows, it is a beacon of light for our community — reflected in every corner of our shop & the unique items we curate for our shelves.
John has been collecting records, movies, books, toys & oddities for his entire life of 47 years — obsessively drawn to the unusual, the forgotten, the spooky, and the hard-to-find.
Adrienne has been right there with him, leveraging her own passion for interior design to help manifest that lifelong obsession into the physical realm — to build something unique they could share with others.
Our daughters, Talulah & Paloma, inherited the family love of Halloween, creepy/cute things & anything with a ‘lil dose of magic, mystery, or mischief!
As our shop inspiration Edgar Allan Poe said: “There is no exquisite beauty . . . without some strangeness in the proportion.”
P&P now finally exists for EVERYONE who finds beauty in the strange, comfort in the unpredictable & uncomfortable, and joy in the discovery of something they didn’t even know they were searching for.
Welcome to The Pit — we’ve been dying to meet you.
