Especially if you are in section G as there are less lifeguards as you go down along the beach! 🦈🦈🦈

We are aware that the Town of Wells temporarily closed its beaches following a reported shark sighting this morning.

Our lifeguards are on duty and continue to monitor the water closely for any signs of shark activity, as they do every day. At this time, there have been no confirmed shark sightings in our area, and our beaches will remain open.

Beachgoers are reminded that the ocean is a natural environment and sharks may be present at any time. There has been an increase in reported shark activity along the Maine coast in recent weeks, so everyone should remain alert and aware of their surroundings.

If you see anything of concern in the water, please leave the water calmly and notify a lifeguard immediately. We have established procedures for responding to suspected shark activity and will make public announcements if conditions require us to restrict water access or close the beach.

Please follow all lifeguard instructions and help us keep the beach safe for everyone.
