A little perspective for those who have never owned a small business that buys wholesale.
My store carries several different brands, and each brand has its own wholesale order minimum. Sometimes that minimum is $500. Sometimes it’s $1,000 or more.
As a small business owner, especially during the slower summer months, it’s not always possible to place an order every time one item runs out or someone requests a product. If I placed a separate order for each brand every time I needed to restock, I’d easily be spending $1,500 to $2,000 (or more) a month just on inventory. That’s before paying booth rent and all the other expenses that come with running a business.
So if you ask about a product and I don’t have it right away, please know it’s not because I don’t want to carry it. Most of the time, I’m simply waiting until I can place a larger order that meets the wholesale minimum.
