This iconic figurine known as the “Rat Fink” was designed by Hot Rod legend and the most prominently gifted artist of this style Big Daddy Ed Roth. Roth saw Hot Rodding as cars that looked and worked better when customized and blown up into creations he so exquisitely captured in the cartoon dynamics and extreme feature enhancements that made his characters capture the hearts of 60’s, 70’s, and on. His Rat Rod style of building hot rods was liberating to so many car enthusiasts who found freedom of expression in tossing the old perfect body and paint, interior and engine components in the can and letting loose to create one of a kind amazing hot rods that literally broke the stale mould of stiff nosed executives who built their hot rods with credit cards and checks. This was a new form of creativity that money could not buy. And to sweeten the pot, if you had true imagination and hands on skills, you could afford to build a car that would surpass Executive bank branch manager Harold Fitzgerald and his pristine little Rambler tucked ever so cozily in the 3 car garage detached from his 3 story chateau nestled in so quaint in the obnoxious subdivisions which were of their own up and coming trend for being known as the must live in Fort Knox with the iron gate and guard shack to match. But when Big daddy would suit up in his twin turbo blown bucket T that broke all noise ordinances and scared old ladies wigs right off their hats, He took delight in smashing through the cozy sun division s iron gates on Saturday mornings just to round every street and drop the jaws off of finely dressed businessmen wiping the dust off of a few places that the expensive wool car cover failed to preserve that week. For, soon they would take their housewife extraordinaire to the root beer stand and show off that shine for all to be drawn into them as the ideal American muscle car owners with wealth and lifestyles that held those sweaters around their necks more tightly than they puckered their tear ends as Ws Roth would blast in beside them and have swarms of girls just throwing themselves at a man who had rough hands, an exhilarating mind, and the ability to show its thoughts outright in the form of the baddest iron and muscle ever to leave melted rubber in Fitzgerald’s drive way earning the name of tire fryer!!!
