the embodiment of a metamorphosis
“...And then | let myself not just intellectualize slowing down, but Trust that I created enough of an environment of support to lay down and be with it.
Slowing down in experiencing my emotions, but not becoming them.
In experiencing how the cold water feels on my skin on a hot day in July,
In experiencing the intoxicating scent of the rose, and also not ignoring her thorn.
Because, it’s not an absence of experiencing pain or suffering, no, but it can’t just be to become it.
To experience it, yes, but not become it only.
The rapture of being alive.
The garden is one of my greatest teachers, as it reminds me there are no summer blooms without winters death and decomposition.
I see lately that for so long I was just begging for permission to live.
To put my teet down on the earth and really be here and live and experience this messy human life free from projections of perfection that I placed around myself like a blanket in the night, finding comfort and solace that only reached skin deep.
So l asked myself, what about a living that reaches my bones? That reaches my soul?
Well, then I suppose I choose to take the rose with its thorns.
To not bypass the pain, but to not bypass the joy either.
And then I find comfort in the paradox, and then it’s as if all the universe is just waiting to hear the “yes” of Life willing to have an experience of itself and I feel the wind carrying the softness of true freedom saying,
“You’ll forget, you’ll remember, as many times as you do, so all of those times the Great Mystery will still be... so all of those times a human, here, to experience this, you will still be.”” - Jewels Sullivan
