Independent bookstores are places where people gather, discover, build community, and connect with each other.
This new Stanford Social Innovation Review essay puts words to something many of us booksellers experience every day: running a bookstore is so much more than selling books. It’s hosting events, partnering with schools, expanding access to reading, and creating spaces where people can come together.
As a brand new bookstore partner, we’re part of a growing network of bookstores exploring these ideas in communities across the country.
There is a fantastic essay by Will Greer that appeared in the Stanford Social Innovation Review today, explaining a little about the work that Emerson, partnered with bookstores, have already been doing, and their efforts to ensure the continuation of literacy and community initiatives.
