Such an amazing sight! Tonight was the very first time I have ever seen colors dancing in the night sky! It didn’t quite look like the videos I have seen of the Northern Lights, but the light show tonight was still so amazing, and I am still quite surprised at how decently well some of the photos turned out! We were able to see the light show starting around 10:30pm, and they haven’t stopped yet. What about y’all? Was anyone else able to see the evening light show tonight? Please feel free to share some pictures and/or thoughts on tonight’s light show. (The lights were higher in the sky, and a bit lighter as the night went on.)

Here is the promised post about Day 2 of the Blueberry Festival.

There was so much happening yesterday!!

To kick off the opening of the Festival, there were three paragliders that were dropped over the park, and safely landed in the open field in front of the little amphitheater. It was so cool to watch them coming down. The first one to land looked like they were coming in pretty hot as they landed. The other two looked to have caught an up draft and stayed aloft much longer than the first glider did.

Then, shortly after this, the first of two Civil War Reenactments began (I was able to catch some of the second one that started at 3.) I have never seen one before, but it was pretty interesting to watch. It was also really cool that all the actors had an encampment set up, with a few information signs around explaining some of the things that happened back then. (They even had a mini stockade that anyone could take pictures in.) It was really informational, and a very good reminder of how much has changed since then. (It was also super cute to see the kids getting into the reenactment as well.

There were a few things that I was only able to hear about throughout the day. For example, there was a parade down Main Street, and shortly after that, there were quite a few dogs and their owners walking through. There was a dog show that happened not much later than that. And, after the dog show was a blueberry pie eating contest. It sounded pretty interesting from all the whooping and hollering going on.

Lastly, towards the end of the Vendor’s time, I was able to make a loop around the park. There are way more vendors and food trucks than I realized. And, the little park and inflatable obstacle courses looked like so much fun! (They are also REALLY HUGE!!!!) I have never seen some so big! (I think a few adults could have climbed on those and they would still be standing.) Another activity for the kids that looked like so much fun, was Fish and Wildlife brought out a decently large tank, and filled it with some smaller fish for the kids to be able to fish from. It was really sweet to see that someone was willing to stick with the activity and help the kids bait the hooks, take the hooks out of the fish’s mouth when they were caught, and take care of the ones the kids caught so they could take home their catch!! (Some of those kids were so excited that they caught a fish, and there were even a couple that were a little nervous as they felt the fish on the line of their fishing poles. It was so cute! Even some of the grownups were more excited than some of the kids were.) It was such a great experience for the kids!

Yesterday was so much fun, and full of so much activity, I can’t wait to see what today will bring!!

Just in case you are seeing this post before this morning’s post, we will be out at Klickitat Pairie Park (behind the Mossyrock Market off of State St.) until 4 pm tonight, with a few of the other activities continuing on until 5 pm.

Sorry Facebook World,

I was so distracted with everything happening in my personal life, and everything going on at the Blueberry Festival yesterday, I didn’t post anything about Day 2 of the Mossyrock Blueberry Festival. (I will correct this in a little bit.)

As for today, we are all set up and ready for everyone to come and enjoy the Festival today. We will all be out here until 4pm tonight, with a few extra activities continuing on until 5pm. We are out at the Klickitat Prairie Park in Mossyrock (right behind the Mossyrock Market off of State St.)

Hi Facebook World,

Thank you to everyone that came out and braved the heat. It was so nice to meet everyone that stopped by.

If you missed today, don’t worry. The Mossyrock Blueberry Festival will be on again tomorrow from 11am-7pm, and the first event to lock off this Saturday is a parade down State St. that is set to start at 11. (So, make sure to stake out your spot early if you want a good view.) This will be followed by some great live music playing, and you won’t want to miss the Civil War Reenactment either. (If I heard correctly, there will be two showing for the next two days. I’m kind of hoping I get the chance to see at least a little bit of it. Before the end of the day, they were beginning to set up the tents and everything.) There will also be some pretty amazing vendors, two GIANT bounce houses for the kids to run out their energy on, some great food, and just a whole lot of community around to meet.

If you have the chance, make your way out the Mossyrock Blueberry Festival, and come check it out for yourself. If plans take you elsewhere this weekend, I hope you have a fantastic weekend filled with good friends and good times.

Sorry for the no heads up before now, but we are all setup out in Mossyrock for the Mossyrock Blueberry Festival at Klickitat Prairie Park. We will be out here until 7 tonight.

I haven’t had a chance to see much of the Festival, yet, but there are so many diverse vendor booth, plenty of food trucks, some pretty good music, with a couple live bands coming out later this evening, and some amazing looking bounce “houses” for the kids!

If you have a chance, come on out and enjoy the festivities this weekend (we will be out tomorrow 11am-7pm and Sunday 11am-5pm).

Hi Facebook World,

The Thurston County Fair has finally come to a close! I’m kind of happy and sad all at the same time. This has been the longest event that Missy’s Misfits has ever attended, but it has, to a point, also been one of the most enjoyable. There was always something to do, even if it was just walking around the Fairgrounds, or making a few new toys over the last few days. Plus all the opportunities that came up, and all the people we were able to meet over this extra long weekend. I’m kind of thinking that it might be nice to try to go to the Thurston County Fair again next year. 🤔 If you have ever been to the Thurston County Fair before, or if you went this year, let me know what you think of it.

Today I ended up finding a few more events that were happening during Fair hours, so, I did a bit more “wandering” around today, and was a bit surprised to find out that there were quite a few equine events/games being held today. It was pretty fun getting to watch those riders show off their skills! Those kids were amazing! I got to watch Pole Bending in real life for the first time, as well as Figure 8’s, and Key Pole( not sure if this one is called “Key Pole”, or Key Hole”, either way, it was pretty cool). I also took a few videos from each competition for anyone that would like to see what some of these events look like. (Just found out that Facebook won’t allow more than one video per post, so i will make a couple of mini posts with a couple of those videos for y’all to see.)

In the meantime, here are some photos that I took instead. The first two are from the Pole Bending ride I just barely saw, then one of the Figure 8’s. One of the volunteers setting up for the Key Pole(?) event. I was also able to find out that when the Fair’s itinerary says something about a “round robin” contest, that means that any of the Grand Champions (in their own competition) can enter this Round Robin Contest. Then, once all the contestants are in the ring with their animals, everyone switches animals, and they must show their stuff to the judges with someone else’s animal. I didn’t get a chance to see the any of the actual competition, but I did get to see the first few entries, for a couple of different types of Round Robin contests.

And, with a small break for the animals, I went and checked out the Tangledfeet Cloggers perform. I was a bit surprised to see some older ladies up on stage, dancing their hearts out with the toy tones that were playing on the speakers. (It was so fun to see the youngest member of the group, along with a couple others, really getting into the dance she was performing! Her facial expressions are amazing. She really loves what she does!)

After that, the last “main” event I wanted to see was the Equine parade. I found out later that it was really just about the riders showing off all the ribbons and awards they had earned throughout the Fairs, with a few thank you to and from the parents and staff of each of the four riding clubs.

Today was so much fun, but I am glad the Fair is over. (I finally get to get some real sleep for the first time in five days. Yay!! 🎉

Thank you so much to everyone that stopped by the booth during the Fair. It was so nice to be able to meet you, catch up a bit, and just talk. We both really appreciated it.

One more down, just one day left to go! Day 4 of the Thurston County Fair has ended, and there is only one day left to go. We will be back out at the Thurston County Fairgrounds from 10 am - 8 pm.

Today was definitely much busier than the last few days have been. It was so much fun seeing so many people out, and enjoying the Fair.

The biggest attraction today was the Kids’s Auction Market. It is a bit weird to here people talking about the price of animal when referring to how much it weighs. So, for anyone, including myself that didn’t find out until today, when the kids get to sell their animals in the auction (and, no I have no idea what the rules are for this, I just know that there were so many animals going up for auction that it went on for a couple of hours), the price for the animals is determined by how much people are willing to pay PER POUND. (So, if an animal in the auction, for example, a lamb, weighed in at 120 pounds, and the winning bid was $5, that meant that the winner would pay $600 for the animal they won.) There were quite a few types on animal up for auction today (meat goats, lambs, steers, market rabbits, and pigs), an some of those prices were pretty high! I think one of the lambs went for $18, and a couple of the steers were close to the $5, but weighing in at just over 1,000 pounds!

The whole experience was pretty interesting. I did feel bad for a most of the animals though, but especially the steers. I don’t know much about raising cattle, but I do understand a few things about animal behaviors, and it was pretty clear to see that some of those animals didn’t want to be anywhere near that little arena! With all the sights, loud sounds, and new smells, I can only imagine how overwhelmed those poor animals must have been!😳 Thankfully though, everyone, human and animal, made it through.

One of the other interesting events that happened today was the acrobatic performances. I was only able to catch the last ten minutes of the last shows for the day, but it was still really cool!! It is a group of four teenage girls, basically doing some crazy gymnastics moves while spinning around in the air while balancing themselves in/around rings, hoops, and whatever else was in the first half of the show!! They are all super brave, and extremely talented!! (They are scheduled to be performing once again tomorrow at three different times throughout the day.)

Make sure you come check out the Fair tomorrow, if you have a chance! There are some pretty amazing talents being showcased throughout the grounds that you wouldn’t want to miss.
