Good morning. I wanted to reach out to everyone as ive gotten quite a few messages about the recent NFA legislation change.
On August 5th the courts deemed the NFA unconstitutional and removing its registration requirements on supressors, SBR, SBS and AOWs. While this is great news, unfortunately it does not include WA state. FFLs have already been contacted by WSP who has also informed us that this change does not effect WA state.
The August 5, 2026 federal court ruling (Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF) striking down NFA registration for untaxed items is not nationwide. It directly applies only to the specific parties and the 15 plaintiff states involved in the lawsuit: Texas, Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
Hopefully we see more progressive action nation wide but as of now we will not be same day 4473 processing Class 3 items.
