The plant world is full of advice that's been passed down from one person to the next... and sometimes it deserves to stay in the history books π
Let's retire a few old wives tales:
βοΈ "Water your plants on the same day every week"
Every plant has different needs and not everyone needs water every monday! Do your research on your plants care!
βοΈ "Yellow leaves means you are a bad plant person."
Yellowing comes from overwatering, underwatering, aging leaves, pests, temperature changes, or even a recent move. Check your overall plant and their habitat before freaking out.
βοΈ"Pebble layer at the bottom of the pot solves all the drainage problems!"
Until you know your plants specific watering needs, do not put rocks on the bottom of the pot thinking you can just water like normal. The rocks only help collect water at the bottom and keep the roots wetter for longer!
βοΈ"You are just born with a green thumb."
Plant care is a talent that is learned through practice and perseverance through failure. It's okay!
If you've held onto these tales, don't worry! Part of being human is learning from one another and we're happy to be a part of your plant parent journey!!
What's one old wives tale you'd like clarity on?
