🪄 MAGIC: THE GATHERING PRERELEASE GUIDE 🪄

Curious about how a Magic: The Gathering Prerelease works? Never played Sealed before? We’ve got you covered!

Our single-player Prerelease events are played in the Sealed format. You don’t need to bring a constructed deck or a collection of cards—you’ll build your deck at the event using the cards you open! 🎴

🎥 Want to see how it works?
Check out this helpful video:

✨ HOW DOES SEALED WORK?

When you arrive, you’ll receive a Prerelease Pack containing six Play Boosters, a special Prerelease promo card, a deck box, and a spindown life counter.

You’ll open your packs and use the cards you opened to build a minimum 40-card deck. You can also use as many basic lands as you need.

Your deck will usually be built around your strongest two colors. Look for:

🧙‍♂️ Creatures
💥 Removal spells
⚔️ Combat tricks
✨ Powerful or synergistic cards
🌈 Cards that work well together

Don’t worry if deck building sounds intimidating! Prereleases are a great place for both new and experienced players, and our staff and fellow players are happy to help you get started. Wizards specifically describes Prereleases as approachable for new players and longtime players alike.

🎒 WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

You really don't need much!

✔️ Your entry fee
✔️ Sleeves, if you like to use them
✔️ Dice/counters
✔️ A way to keep track of your life total
✔️ A willingness to have fun!

We’ll have the basic lands you need to build your deck.
