What a treat! The Reading Room attended an advanced showing of Opera Omaha’s one-act opera “UnShakeable.”

In this play, the world has suffered a major pandemic known as Erasure, which erased everyone’s memories. The only way to communicate is in Shakespearean language. The characters Wyatt and Meridian learn how to remember their love for each other.

A must see play about 45 minutes long. Great for all ages (who can sit through a play). Elements of romance, humor, drama and more. Very well done.

The play runs from June 5 to June 7 with a special relaxed showing on June 6. Get your tickets at Opera Omaha’s website.

Book spotlight: The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd 📚

Inspired by real historical figures, The Invention of Wings follows two women whose lives become connected as they navigate freedom, identity, and the expectations placed upon them.

Thought-provoking, emotional, and beautifully written, it's a story that stays with you long after the final page.

If you're looking for a powerful historical fiction read, this one may be worth adding to your list 🤍
