The Old Poor Farm is a historical homestead that once provided a home for sick, poor, orphaned, and people with disabilities from 1884-1940.

Today, the homestead is an animal sanctuary that cares for 250 animals that include miniature horses, goats, sheep, an albino raccoon, geese, ducks, peacocks, other birds, alpaca, dogs, cats, and many more.

The Old Poor Farm provides wonderful opportunities for school groups to learn about Nebraska/Dodge County history and animal care.

What an incredible journey it’s been. We came. We decorated. From bare porches to pumpkin-filled entryways, we’ve loved every single transformation.
