Would you trust me to completely re-metallicize a pair of designer shoes? 👠✨
PART 2 of restoring the worn silver finish on these incredible Maison Margiela shoes… and this was definitely a learning process!
After cleaning the shoes, I applied the adhesive from Artistic Painting Studio and let it dry for 24 hours. Then I pressed the silver foil onto the sticky surface to transfer the new metallic finish.
I originally planned to repair only the worn areas, but the new silver didn’t blend smoothly with the original finish. After talking with my customer, we decided to re-metallicize the entire shoe, creating a beautiful, slightly textured silver surface.
This was my first time trying this process, so there was some trial and error! I touched up a few areas and finished the shoes with five thin coats of flexible topcoat to help protect them from future wear.
The result? A refreshed pair of designer shoes and one happy customer! 🤍
