BUY AT HOUSE OF FLY & HELP TEXAS FLATS
FlatsWorthy started with a simple idea: Texas flats belong to everyone who loves fishing them. Built by a diverse group of guides, anglers, paddlers, and airboaters, Flatsworthy promotes respect and courtesy on the water. Rather than drawing lines between different styles of fishing, FlatsWorthy brings anglers together around a shared responsibility to give each other room, respect the resource, and keep the experience about the fish, the place, and the people.
As a Five for the Fish initiative and in direct support of Flatsworthy’s mission, House of Fly will be donating a portion of select promotional product sales between October 7th and November 1st to improve the health and productivity of Texas bays now and for the future.

If you like spot and stalk hunting, you’d probably take quickly to fly fishing for Texas redfish. At least that’s Clay Cottle’s opinion . . . and he should know.

Cottle, who grew up in Crystal City, Texas, fishing bass in lakes and rivers with his grandfather and father, moved to Rockport 16 years ago. He spent eight years working as a commercial diver, first offshore, then inland, doing marine construction, visual inspections, and demolition for a company in Houston. About that time, he picked up a baitcasting rod and a spinning rod and started sight-casting for redfish. Before long, he switched to a fly rod and realized what a gold mine South Texas could be.

A few more from the Clearwater Spey Gathering. More than anything, this event is about the people who keep coming back, sharing what they know and spending a day together on the Clearwater. That’s what makes this one mean so much to us.

In the House of Fly Podcast Episode 5, Sam Wike and Calvin Fuller sit down with fly tying legend Kris Keller to learn how his tying magic came to be. Keller creates some of the most unique and effective patterns for western fisheries and, as far as we are concerned, flies slightly under the radar. If you’re not thowing Keller’s patterns, you’re not catching some of the fish you should be. Listen in and then get over to House of Fly to buy Keller’s flies. They won’t last.

Steelhead enthusiast Calvin Fuller likes nothing more than raising wild metalheads to a skated fly. He’s put his time in on many of the Northwest’s top steelhead waters and always comes back to Idaho’s Clearwater River during late summer and fall. The Clearwater offers fish to 40-some inches long and taking one of those beasts on top is an unmatched experience. Want to step into Fuller’s shoes and fish his favorite flies? Follow the link in the bio for his top four.

2026 Clearwater Spey Gathering.

Another great year on the Clearwater. We’re incredibly fortunate to share this event with the Red Shed Fly Shop and Mike “Poppy” Cummins, and grateful to everyone who continues to make the Spey Gathering what it is.

A huge thank you to all of the presenters, tyers, casters, vendors and anglers who showed up to share their knowledge, tell stories and spend a day celebrating steelhead and the two-handed community.

Thank you to YETI for sponsoring lunch and helping us keep everyone fed, and to all of the brands and individuals who contributed their time and support.

Most of all, thank you to Poppy, Dale, Amanda and the Red Shed for continuing a tradition that means a lot to the Clearwater steelhead community. We’re proud to be a small part of it.

See you at the next one.
