Ellis Pawn Shop has been part of Scott County for nearly half a century, and when we look back at where it all started, it’s hard not to be proud of the journey.
David and Barbara Ellis opened Ellis Pawn Shop in March of 1977, starting out in a small space beside the old Scott Theater on Main Street. In the early 1980s, we moved to Oak Grove, at what is now the site of Lee’s (formerly Big John’s). That move also marked the beginning of another chapter for us, as we became a RadioShack franchise.
By the late 1980s, we had outgrown that location and built the store we’re still in today.
A lot has changed since 1977. Technology has changed. The community has changed. Even the things people bring through our doors have changed. But one thing hasn’t: our commitment to the people of Scott County.
For almost 50 years, we’ve had the privilege of serving generations of families, meeting new faces, and watching customers become friends.
What started as a small pawn shop beside the old Scott Theater grew into a family business that has become a part of this community’s history.
And we’re still here.
Thank you, Scott County, for allowing us to be a part of your story for nearly 50 years. We’re looking forward to the next chapter.
